Lucid Flies into the Record Book...The name
"Lucid Fly" was derived from this newspaper headline about America's most
experienced astronaut, female pioneer Dr. Shannon Lucid.
Lucid Fly is a powerful female-fronted
melodic progressive hard rock band, combining goosebump-raising celestial
vocals with intricate songwriting and unique odd-time grooves. Their music
defies all expectations and clearly knows no boundaries; it is a complete
emotional experience.
Co-founders Layne and Mecca joined forces in Orlando FL, and their story has been about constant evolution.
With an undeniable chemistry, Lucid Fly exploded into the Orlando music scene,
surfacing above others in a seemingly endless pool of local music, defining a
class of their own.
Influenced by a wide range of artists such
as Imogen Heap, A Perfect Circle, Sevendust, Finger 11, and Chevelle, Lucid Fly
began writing their own material. With the release of their debut EP entitled
"Adapting to Gravity" in early 2005, the band has built a wide spectrum fanbase
by showcasing their ability to approach the music dualistically yet remain
creative and original. Beyond the instantly appealing hooks, their songs grow
on listeners by catching them off guard with a unique voice, then pulling them
in until they find themselves reciting the introspective lyrics. Passionate about
their music, Lucid Fly's live performance engulfs audiences with unforgettable
intensity.
Attesting to the quality of this act, the
band has already recieved radio play on stations across the US and Europe, and
has established a major internet presence as well. More than 2000 copies of their
music have been distributed throughout the southeast at music conferences and live
performances.
The word is spreading, and their mission has
just begun...
